 Regenerative Sustainable Holistic farm management

About Glenn

Glenn has worked as an advisor to the organic and biological farming community since 2011 – both in a full time role and part time whilst farming on his own 260 Ha (640 acre) certified organic sheep and beef property. This consultancy has taken him all over New Zealand as well as overseas. Glenn is a 5th generation farmer with 20 years’ experience including 10 years as certified organic.

His advisory work has covered many varied farming enterprises – dairy, sheep, beef, deer, pigs, cropping, goats, hydroponics, corporate farming, small holdings and lifestyle farms, as well as collaborative work with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation on sustainable pathways in agriculture.

For 10 years Glenn was on the livestock technical committee for organic certifier BioGro New Zealand Ltd, including 8 years as chairman. He has been an executive member of the Organic Dairy and Pastoral Group, New Zealand’s national organic livestock body, since 2009, including 2 ½ as chairman. Glenn is also a long term member of the Southern Organic Group ( since 2005).

These roles meant being involved with such varied entities as the Ministry of Primary Industries, Fonterra, Silver Fern Farms, Alliance Group, ANZCO, PGG Wrightsons, and the Organic Exporters Association of New Zealand, as well as overseas companies, markets and universities.

I offer…

On farm assessments, meetings, advice and reports for:

· Organic Certification – understanding the basics

· Organic management plans and paperwork for those considering conversion to certified organic farming.

· Assistance with organic audits preparations.

· Transition planning from Substitution Organics to Regenerative Holistic Management

· Regenerative and Sustainable farming management

· Holistic management and alternate farming opportunities

· Trial and research work – establishment and research reviews

I will discuss what your goals are, what your current practices are and discuss opportunities going forward. This will all be presented in a report for the client. It is important that a farm visit and assessment be carried out as part of any reporting.

I will then provide ongoing support should you proceed with any advice and options given, and as required by you. This is also recommended.

Assessments can vary in length depending on what your requirements are and size of the farming operation. A minimum half day (3-4hrs) is recommended for an on farm visit.
